Relationship and Couples Counselling
Relationship issues can cover difficulties in relationships with
children, with parents, in the workplace or with friends, but more
frequently people seek counselling for difficulties in a personal
intimate relationship.
Maybe you're finding there are increasing tensions in your relationship.
It could be that you're arguing and fighting and there are more flare
ups. Alternatively one of you is gradually withdrawing from the
relationship creating more distance between you and perhaps turning off
sex as well.
Resentment, irritation and frustration can build up if there is
insufficient or no communication about what is wanted or needed from
each other. Typical flashpoints can be about feeling misunderstood or
not supported by the other, differing views on how to bring up the
children, or about sex. Also each person brings their own expectations
and personal history to a relationship. By this I mean we can behave in
our present relationship in the same way our parents treated each other
and some of these behaviours maybe detrimental to our relationship.
It's never too late to address the difficulties in your relationship and
having counselling can help deal with these problems in a supportive
environment.
